The SS14 SIS collection has a romantic summery feel and refers to the young Brigitte Bardot, at the time she still was a brunette and before we all got to know her.
Contemporary woman – All the things that made BB so lovely and inspiring are key in this collection. The BB check, dropped shoulders, tight waists and voluminous skirts. Spijkers en Spijkers of course gave all these elements their own special twist and looked at BB in a way painter Kees van Dongen looked at Brigitte when he made the first painting of her. Van Dongen said “ I don’t know why I made a portrait of Brigitte Bardot. Maybe because I find her the typical contemporary woman. According to the SIS-designers BB still is that contemporary woman and therefore the muze of this collection.
Summer Lovin – This SS14 SIS collection takes you to all the places that are suitable for a summer lovin holiday. Picture the South of France or Spanish Sevilla….The designers take you to the Cote d’Azur or on a Spanish stroll this season, with this colourfull and versitile collection. The summer look is vivid and fresh, with a variety of garments that create a look for every occasion.
Spijkers-style elements – The strong graphics and distinct use of color which Spijkers en Spijkers are known for are again well presented this season. The twins made combination of different toned checks and flower designs that present another way of working with these Spijkers-style elements. The SIS-woman wears a silk georgette blouse with a preppy cotton skirt in BB check during the day, which can be easily transformed in an evening look with a voluminous organze skirt. The collection also includes more casual elements like printed t-shirts and sweats. The allover Bardot print is like a loveletter, with quotes from the former actrice and singer. Although the collection is easy-going, the silhouets are feminine with focus on the waist. The raffia belts emphasize this look and make this collection easy to mix and match.
