Spring/Summer 16 collection – SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers – LOVE
LOVE
“… nothing is stronger than the laws of the Universe, but on Earth,
nothing is stronger than LOVE.”
Dr. Reeves in the movie: “A Matter of Live and Death”
The above Quote of Dr. Reeves from the film “A Matte of Live and Death” is key forthe theme of this collection. A collection that takes you into a space ship traveling through the Universe.
The thought that, love is stronger than the laws of the universe is beautiful and inspiring, the rockets in this collection have the shape of Cupid’s arrows and shoot throughout the universe with LOVE…. The design duo is expressing with this collection that Love and Passion rule, nothing is impossible if these two are in play.
Margaret Hamilton, the muse for this collection wrote the software for the on-board computer of the Apollo 11, which in 1969 put the first man on the Moon. Thanks to her software programs many successful space travels and important discoveries have been made. The Dutch space traveler Dr. Ockels told the twins ones that if you travel into space, you ascertain how truly beautiful planet earth is …..
The graphic detailling and distinct use of color which are so key for the Spijkers en Spijkers style are again clearly present this season. The twins created several cheerful prints of arrow-shaped rockets but also more figurative prints of planets and galaxies. Cupid’s Arrow appears in different ways throughout this collection, in printing but also in black and off-white ausbrenner and in the shape of graphic patterns in dresses and skirts. The abstract rockete in the shape of an arrow form a red threath through this collection.
Besides the summery dresses in color block and striped patterns Spijkers en Spijkers also show a a more sporty look in ultra-light neoprene which can perfectly fine to wear in the summer of 2016.
The neoprene used in combination with the ausbrenner transformed easely from sporty to a look for the evening. To top it all off, the models wear envelope clutches in shape of a love letter.
Spijkers en Spijkers close their show with transparent A-line dresses in different tones showing a graphic pattern of abstract arrow-shaped missiles and lines.
